Stephen King said, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Pwee Foundation had indeed brought the magic to PertapisChildren’s Home. With the new formed partnership in 2014, Executive Chairman Mr. Benjamin Pwee strongly felt the need to give as much as a foundation could, to touch the lives of these children. What better way to do so by giving them a brand newlibrary, with the help of National Library Board (NLB).
The Pwee Foundation bought and sponsored six bookcases that were delivered and assembled at Pertapis Children’s Home. The bookcases then housed books donated by NLB, and Pwee Foundation brought a group of excited youth volunteers who helped to unpack the NLB books from their delivery boxes, and shelved them into the newly-donated bookcases.
Behind the scenes of actually donating a library, lies the menial tasks of coordinating with several parties, buying bookcases that fit the Home, delivering and assembling the entire library which took a toll on the volunteers. But at the end of the day, visiting the Children’s Home and conducting the reading sessions with the newly donated library, the children appeared even happier than ever before. It was more than worth the taxing process of coordination, just for these kids.
The Pwee Foundation would like to especially thank NLB for their donation of the library books, as well as our volunteers who helped with setting up the library itself.
